Family Elapidae
 Rough-scaled Snake
Members of the Elapidae family, called elapids, are among some of the most feared snakes in the world. The coral snakes and cobras have earned a reputation as lethal killers with their poisonous venom. However, the Elapidae family also includes sea snakes, which are relatively harmless. Although elapids are found throughout the world, they are most common in the Southern Hemisphere.
