Family Procyonidae
 Raccoon
The Procyonidae family consists of the raccoon, the coati, and the ringtail. A common characteristic of members in this family is the rings on their tails. Members of this family range in size from that of a housecat to about the size of a small dog. Procyonids are omnivorous and will pretty much eat anything they can find. They have five digits on their paws and their front paws are shaped like hands. This gives them great dexterity and enables them to get into just about anything. Procyonids are nocturnal and usually wait out the day in a tree den .
