Members of the Varanidae family are more often called monitor lizards. They are found in Africa, Southern Asia, Indo-Australia, and Australia. Their habitat ranges from arid desert to tropical rainforest. Varanids have a small head, long neck, stout body, and long tails. A good portion of their length is tail.
